DIY: Edible Favors for a Winter Wedding

I have been spotting some great ideas for DIY wedding favors.  Here are some extremely cute ones, especially for a wintertime wedding.  DIY-ing lets you personalize your favors to you and your fiance and adds that extra special touch.  Do you guys love cocoa or baking together?  Do you have a favorite spice blend?  Use these inspirations to come up with something tailored just for you and your hubby to be!  Here are some of my favorite ideas:

"homemade" stamped cookies, these are so adorable and the possibilities are endless via Jillian Leiboff

Or, you could let your guests get in on the DIY-ing with these cookie mix jars via Wedding Window
These cocoa kits are very festive, and could be dressed up to match your wedding colors or theme via kirtsy
For something more savory, how about these infused oils?  I love the thought of giving your guests a choice of flavors! via Just Putzing
Vanilla sugar would be a great addition to your guests holiday cookies or stirred in their coffee via Style Me Pretty
Are you planning on DIY-ing your favors?  What are you making?

Inspiration 258: My Wedding Inspiration

I haven't announced it on here yet but I'm engaged!  We are planning for a 2014 wedding, probably May... so there will be lots of time to plan.  I will probably blog about my wedding planning here a little bit but most of my wedding planning will be documented at my new blog Perfectly Ours!
Anyway, here is my current inspiration board:

Theme Thusday 45: Quilts

how about some inspiration to include quilts in your wedding?  It could be a vintage quilt you inherited from your dear grammy or if you use one as guest book... quilts add a very personal touch to your wedding day.

Inspiration 255: Burlap and Tea Tins

I think burlap and teatins really compliment each other well!  The soft vintage feel of the tea tins and the rustic feel of burlap would be great for a barn or outdoor wedding.  What do you think of this board?

Inspiration 235: Purple Pinwheels

I love pinwheels as details in a wedding! So I decided to create a fun board with shades of purples and lots of pinwheel elements.  Oh and a purple birdcage veil to tie in with my alternative Wednesday idea for this week... enjoy!

Real Wedding: Stephanie & Josef's DIY Fall Wedding

I love the orange color palette Stephanie & Josef chose and how it really compliments Stephanie's red hair!  Maybe that's a bit of a weird statement but oh well, I said it anyway.  I'm also loving the leaf pins they used in place of boutonnieres, what a great idea for a fall wedding!

Real Wedding: Chris & Kendra's Cute Green Gingham Wedding

I was stuck on gingham this week and this wedding really shows how to incorporate it without going over the top.   Plus, you know that I have a true love for mismatched bridesmaid's looks and now I'm noticing that more weddings are incorporating a few colors in the bridesmaids dress selections.  This raspberry, pale pink, red and green color palette is awfully lovely too.  I love all of the amazing DIY details too, see the rest of the wedding here on Steep Street Photography's blog.
and of course, the amazing details:

Inspiration 188: Cross Stitch & Cable Knit

I love spring and summer more than anything else, I despise the cold!  But I have seen some amazing winter wedding inspiration and just had to share this board I made for you, before winter is over.  This crafty board combines cable knit details with cute cross stitch touches.  I really love the centerpieces that combine small balls of yarn and pinecones!  Of course, the cable knit covered vases are really a fun idea as well, I didn't use too many flowers in this board but I think they would be a great addition to your cake or guest book table.  This monochromatic color palette of lime and kelly green is really pretty, and the addition of a few pops of red is a really nice touch for a winter wedding in my opinion.

for more cable knit inspiration check out my Favorite Photo Friday post here.

Alternative Wednesdays #12- Farmer's Market Wedding Favors

I have a fun and eco-friendly favor idea for you today!  Edible favors are definitely a hot trend but why not go with some local produce?  It's affordable, easy to DIY, good for the environment and supports your local economy... plus it gives out of town guests a taste of your hometown.  And if local produce isn't available (which is possible for cold weather states in the winter months) you could always go with locally made jam or honey.  I think the last example I posted is really cute, a small jar of honey and some homemade or locally made granola!  Also loving the third option where they offered strawberries, locally baked bread and fresh cut flowers with a handmade tote to carry them all in!

Inspiration #150- A Small DIY Backyard Wedding

I love it when brides request boards for two different color palettes that they are deciding between!  The bride who requested these boards is having a small backyard wedding that she plans on having a romantic and artsy feel with DIY details.  The two color sets she was deciding between were a more vintage pastel yellow, green and robin's egg palette or an artsy lemon, cherry red and turquoise combination.  I truly love both of these boards and the fun elements they contain, I would have a hard time picking between the two!

Monday Funday #8- Starry, Starry Night

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!  Today I have a board for a bride who is trying to combine her fiance's likes with hers.... he's into space and science fiction while she is into art and retro things.  She wants her wedding to be classy, unique and a bit DIY and was thinking of going with an artsy star theme.  So I took her ideas and came up with this board, inspired by Starry, Starry Night by van Gogh.  I used a blue and yellow color scheme but you could definitely add different shades of blue and green in as well.

PS- Don't forget to enter the contest... one week left!

Fun, Affordable DIY Centerpieces

Some people are so crafty!  I would never imagine making a centerpiece out of egg cartons and vintage buttons.  After seeing it done though, I'm in love!  Now I would love to make these for my own wedding. These centerpieces are affordable, customizable (you can make the colors any shade of the rainbow to match your color scheme perfectly!) and you're recycling on top of it!  See more pictures and the tutorial at Intimate Weddings (the link will take you directly to the tutorial).
